High Royds Memorial Garden

Buckle Lane, Menston, Ilkley, West Yorkshire, LS29 6DG

The paupers’ graveyard (closed in 1969) which belonged to High Royds Psychiatric Hospital (closed in 2003) was restored in 2011 to create a tranquil garden of remembrance. The Heritage Chapel which contains details of all the 2861 former patients (including three babies) who are buried there will open for the first time this year (2012). It will remember those who have gone before and help with the campaign to remove the stigma and discrimination surrounding mental health. We can make arrangements for supervised children’s groups

Opening Times

Saturday 8th September: 1100-1300 & 1400-1600

Sunday 9th September: 1100-1300 & 1400-1600
